1Scope


1.1Theserequirementscoversubmersibleandnonsubmersiblemotor-operatedpumpsintendedtobeusedinordinarylocationsinaccordancewiththeNationalElectricalCode，NFPA70.


1.2Theserequirementsdonotcoverpumpsratedmorethan600volts，pumpsusinguniversalmotorsratedmorethan250volts，pumpsforfireprotectionservice，pumpsforuseasorwithswimmingorwadingpoolequipment，therapeuticbaths，andsimilarequipment，norpumpscoveredbyotherindividualrequirements.Theserequirementsdonotcoverpressurecontrolsorpressuretanksthatareintendedforuseinwaterorotherliquidsystems.Theserequirementsdonotcoverpumpsintendedforcorrosiveorflammablefluids.Thesewouldincludebutnotbelimitedtogasoline，kerosene，oil，chemicals，andpesticides.


1.3ApumpnotcoveredbyanyofthedefinitionsinDefinitions，Section4，andapumpintendedforusewithliquidsotherthanwater，shallbeevaluatedonthebasisofitscompliancewiththerequirementsinthisstandard，andfurtherexaminationandtestsrequiredtodeterminewhetheritisacceptableforthepurpose.Thiswouldincludebutnotbelimitedtopumpsintendedforwater/glycolandsimilarmixturesintendedforuseinhotwaterradiantheatingorthermalsolarapplications.
